Coming now

This is Maikelology, a brand new site by Maikel Frias Mosquea that's just getting started. Things will be up and running here shortly, but you can subscribe in the meantime if you'd like to stay up to date and receive emails when new content is published!

After that canned paragraph, welcome to my very own words.

Why now?

I need to vent, I need to publish, I need to create. LIFE cannot be about consuming content, it has to be about producing it too. Producing content makes me a lot happier than consuming it. The reason I'm back on bloggin now is the change of quality of life I get from my ADHD diagnose and methylphenidate. Life simply became simpler. Priorities became clearer. Issues that were humongous suddenly stopped being it.

What is the goal?

Financial stability. I can't put all my eggs in the same basket. Coding is something I do in any way shape or form. Writing and researching is another thing I do whether I'm paid or not. If a subject interests me, I'm going to dive deep into it. If I can write a decently worded article about it that offers insides, why not get some financial stability out of it that could cover at the very least the amount of time I put on both researching and writing it.

The themes

Very probably but not limited to:

  1. Fitness and workout tips
  2. Diet tips
  3. Living with ADHD of the inatentive type.
  4. Coding, specially Elixir.
  5. System Admin things all based on Linux or FreeBSD.

The pledge

I will not abuse of the paid memberships to put the entire site on a paywall. It'll only be on articles that really REALLY required an effort and are worthy of getting a financial reward. In either case, I do promise to make whatever membership structure I come up with, flexible to all types of pockets.

Why not Medium or Substack?

Who would want to to share space with nazis in the case of the later, or with wannabe-influencers in the case of the former. And that's their negatives, think of the positives of Ghost:

  • It's OpenSource. Paying for this I actually pay FOSS devs.
  • It's a really nice piece of software.
  • I already used Ghost in the past.
  • I'm back because they finally integrated ActivityPub and did it nicely.
  • It has all the features I require and nothing more, analysis paralisis is no joke.
  • I hate Wordpress with passion.

So, sit and enjoy and if you want to subscribe either do it by the email subscription mechanism or use the fediverse account of this blog: @maikel@blog.maikel.dev
